Solid state drive, and also windows takes that reading off of your boot drive, so you would need to install windows 7 on the SSD or a faster drive to get a better score.

Let me guess -- you have one or more SATA drives. I have the same issue. I have two 7.6, two 7.5, and 5.9 for the hard drive. Apparently, that's as good as it can get with old fashioned spinning drives. The only way to improve the score now is by getting an SSD. I'm hoping to finally do so in the next few months.

Windows 7 will never score a hard drive higher then 5.9, which is why Windows scoring isn't exactly the best benchmark for a computer.

The only way to go higher, like others have said, is to use an SSD as the boot drive. I've done so, and my drive rating went up to 7.4.

I think I have the same SSD as you do, but it's only rated at 7.0??
It's A-DATA, and it's 64 gb..
