MicroSD card refuses to format

Well, SOMETHING went wrong when I was transferring stuff over from my microSD card, now my computer reads it as corrupt and requiring of a reformat. However, the card refuses to reformat. Any ideas? Or is it time to throw this chip in the trash?

Stick it in a camera or something that accommodates it and see if that can format it.

A few questions:

First off, the device in which the memory card is used. Can you link it to the PC with a cable? AND if so, can you then view the files on it? Also, if it's a camera you should be able to format the SD card from there.

What is the format of the card? Can you click on properties and see the format type?

However a possible solution for you is to put your SD card in your device, link your device into your computer, and then see if you can look inside.

Good luck!

Also.... You did double check to see if the card isn't locked?

As it's a microSD card, I can't see how it's locked. Also, I have to use an SD card adapter to use it in my camera. Perhaps the lock settings carry over from the adapter?
No. They wouldn't carry over. Locking of a microsd card would be done in it's settings. Like a write-protection.

Well, the adapter doesn't seem to work anymore. Dandy.

I have a card reader on my rig as well as a flashdrive-like microSD adapter, and the microSD slot on the card reader and the second adapter I have say it needs to be formatted, yet the card wont, as previously stated.

Also, Windows says the card only has a little over 600MBs on it when it's a 2GB microSD card. I don't know, I think it's bad now.

I wouldn't fret over it. Just buy a new one for a couple bucks.

I'm not terribly worried. I know I had nothing important on it (just some pictures of my cat), I was just thinking it might have been possible to get it working again. Oh well, not a huge deal.

It would probably bother me as to why it wasn't working anymore though. Can you open any files at all from you pc?

Can't open anything. Can't even get into the card.
