Hackers in every FPS Game!

Thread Starter
So after a long while of inactivity from FPS games, I came back to them. Played Black Ops and Bad Company 2.

And in both of these games, I'd have a lot of fun (arguably more from Bad Company 2) for up to two hours of gameplay. I had 2+ kill death ratios in Bad Company 2 Vietnam even though I constantly charged at the objective. It pissed me off that while half of the team were constantly getting themselves killed, trying to complete the objective, the other half were sitting back, sniping and being absolutely worthless. Despite this inconvenience, the game was still very fun.

Then, a hacker would come in and ruin it for everyone. Same deal in both games. Hacker uses a machine gun and headshots everyone from across the map, spinning erratically as his gun shifts instantly from head to head.

In Black Ops, people would actually accuse the person of hacking. Whereas in Bad Company 2, no one even says anything. For a game emphasizing teamwork and completing the objective, Bad Company 2 has very little chatting and communications among its players, probably because VOIP is limited to only you and your squad.

So I guess its back to Starcraft 2 for me. I just can't stand hackers in FPS games. At least you can win against a player with a maphack in an RTS, but against an aimbot, its a whole different story.

So do you guys think that a game will ever have a foolproof anti-cheat system? It seems weird that many game developers overlook this issue and focus instead on balancing stuff such as guns and useless stuff such as banners when hacks are absolutely gamebreaking and should receive the most attention.

Seems to me the only true solution is games that support private servers.

But otherwise, cheaters will cheat. Sucks, rite?

O well, makes me not miss my PS3 so much. I hated having the money invested in the system only to not be able to enjoy the game the right way.

I cant agree with you more I enjoy FPS games basically more than any game out there now days.. Ive seen it all depends on the servers, alot of servers have better protection and monitoring for that stuff over others. But when one slips through you can't let them bother you, they're losers irl and losers ingame so just shove it off and continue to rape when nobody is aimbotting

You want a dramatic decrease in the number of online hackers, go buy a console.

The problem is, to make an efficient anti cheat system, it would require a lot of complex code to be dumped on your PC to monitor for things like memory editors and exe hooks. If you do that, everyone moans about their privacy being invaded or it breaking the game.

find a good server with admins that do their job pretty simple

At least in Black ops they have bots. Its what I used to do in CS1.6 when hackers were present just play bots or Friends in Private matches.
