Sandy Bridge or Wait for The Bulldozer?

Thread Starter
I'm wondering what you guys think the best decision would be currently..

Buy a revised Sandy Bridge MB & setup, or wait till Bulldozer drops on the table and we have specs to look at?

I'm REALLY loving what I see in Sandy Bridge, it's a really amazing chip..

Or maybe wait till Ivy Bridge?

Please post your recommendations below...

(I will do a poll at the end of the discussion, so please make suggestions, any on topic welcome, thanks..)

Sandy Bridge has a great price to performance ratio. I wouldn't wait.

As i always say - Get any PC hardware NOW.
If you wait then it'll be the same cycle of "meh just wait for product x to release in x months"

Exactly, SB just released and we're already "waiting till Bulldozer". Bulldozer will be pretty awesome though, I plan to upgrade to it.

I won't touch Sandy Bridge till the revision, but Bulldozer will be just right around the corner when that happens... :/ Tough call!

When is Ivy Bridge slated for release????

I'm willing to wait if the performance gains are worth it, but us enthusiast have dreamed for chips like SB, whoosh!

Dont get me wrong im a big fan of AMD but Bulldozer is going to have to be a massive massive jump in performance from the Phenom II's to match SB

Not saying it wont but it really is a massive gap to fill

I would get SB now as its going to be all you will need for the next couple of years

I have personally only used Intel chips and want to try an AMD chip. So what I'm going to do is wait until the bulldozer chips come out, see their specs and how they fair to the newest Intel ones.
Your sig looks good enough to make the wait then decide... besides if you wait and decide that Intel's chips are better then the HW will be cheaper.

I am waiting for Bulldozer too. But sadly it isn't coming out until June.

Bulldozer would be nice option if it could outperform Sandy, lets not forget just like Sandy Bridge it's a brand new chip (new architecture) that will required new platform ,I wonder why AMD didn't release it already ,hmm?

You have a nice setup now. Apparently, Bulldozer has found a way to get your attention, so I will recommend that you wait. You will then have the luxury of comparing both platforms which will help make you feel more confident about your decision

Not necessarily...Your comment is a true sign of no patience but that's okay...sometimes we can't wait
