Then again you gotta understand, on the same memory settings as I have now, my Phenom II 965 had 9.5k memory write speed (with 2900 northbridge mind you) where as on my intel it is 21.5k. They have some serious ground to catch up on. If bulldozer's performance is somwhere between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, I might take the plunge, I was never a big fan of Intel tbh however as it stands atm Intel 2500k is the best price/performance ratio IMO.
Facepalm. The "2500K being the exception" Right. What about the i7 920? The i5 750/760? The E5200? The E2180s before that, or even the E8400.
Let us also not forget the 803 USD Athlon 64 x2 4600+, or the 1100 USD FX-xx chips. Or even the "low end, budget friendly" Athlon 64 x2 4200+, priced at only 537 USD.
When the i5 750 was introduced, the PhII 965 was around 250 dollars. The 750 was brought in at 199. Makes the AMD pricing look a bit ridiculous in retrospect, eh?
When you outperform the competition, you can charge what you wish. When you outperform the competition as badly as Sandy does right now, I'd say Intel is being extremely reasonable. This "so expensive..!" is getting old.
