Help installing new windows.

Thread Starter
I am putting my sig rig together.

Everything is brand new, and I am trying to install windows.

I put the windows cd in, and then boot from the cd drive.

After that it tells me to select a key to begin the boot.

I do that and then my Monitor just has a black screen ( the monitor is still on ).

Whats the deal? I've been successful getting to the windows install menu once, but after the middle of the install it said failed to install or something like that.

Whats the deal? I can't get this damn thing to work. I have taken out the battery to reset everything several times, I am only running 1 stick of ram.

Should I put in a older PCI card? I'm at a loss here, I have never had such a hard time installing windows on a computer. I'm about to lose it.

Any help brotha's?

BTW My ram is Avexir. I ran this brand with a MSI 790FX build and it worked just fine. Hopefully that is not the case here.

Maybe I need a bios update?

Please let me know if you think this is the wrong section.

If it is I will put it somewhere else.

*update*

Lowered my ram to 800mhz.

Seems to be loading now. I guess thats what I get for buying a no name brand. I'll keep this thread up to date.

I'm sure it can help others out.

DDR3 @ 800Mhz!? But that's almost like DDR2! (Unless it says 800Mhz in CPU-Z in which case it would be 1600Mhz due to dual data rate).
What are the stock settings!?

Also, 1055T + 790X-G45... bad idea. 4+1 phase AND MSI = completely bad idea. Sorry to say this, but there's no way you're going to be able to overclock on that board safely.

Running at 3.5Ghz currently, stable as can be?

Where did you get that information from? Personal testing, or online reading?

No offense, but there is a ton of bashing on MSI. You get what you pay for with any brand. Their FX/X series boards are amazing. I have been testing and buying them in bulk since their release.

When you have boot problems one of the first things I have always done is lower the RAM MHZ. Once windows is installed you can then raise it. Its a common thing to do. That or put Windows on a USB and boot from it.

I've seen several post's like this. I knew I could figure it out eventually, and I would image this information would be good for other members.

Anyway,

The problem I ran into was the bios. I simply updated it, and it seems to be running fine!

Going to run Prime tonight and see whats up!

Re-seat you graphics card, or install with another one. I know it sounds illy but i had this same problem. I just took my 460 out reseated it, made sure it was firmly in. Then tried to re-install again and it all worked out fine!

Good input!

As I said earlier in the thread it was RAM problems. I had to lower the mhz
