Bad Company 2 Performance Nightmare - Page 2

Thread Starter
Thank you guys for the fast responses. I guess I'm overestimating the performance of my rig. Or rather underestimating BC2's CPU dependence

You wouldn't be the first person to try everything on a dual core unsatisfied with the performance of BC2. Honestly, I ran BC2 fine on c2d 6700, 4 gigs of comparable ram and a 7950gx2.

I can attest to this game hitting the cores in an intel quad hard however. I see it across 6 of my 8 threads.

If I were you I would plan my new build closer to BF3 if that's what you were thinking. I do not see the value in upgrading your sig rig outside of your case and psu.

its a console port. you need a high powered quad core for any decent framerates.
he engine Bad Company 2 is using was specifically designed for consoles.

yeah dual cores will limit your fps even if you have a good gpu, this game eats cpu's for breakfast. Im pretty happy with the setup i have now, never drops below 60 fps with everything maxed out 1920x1080, but thats because of the oc's and SB's kick some butt

Proof? Because there's no way a single 6870 with x8 AA and x16 AF is getting a consistent 60 FPS in bad company 2 @ 1080p or 1920 x 1200.

A stock 6870: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/gra...-6870-review/8 Even with only x4 AA it's seeing 26FPS as a minimum and only a 43 average. (yes, that's at x 1200, not 1080p, but the difference is negligible)

OP: I'd try clocking the duallie some more. It can't make up for the lack of cores, but it sure can't hurt.
