A stock 6870: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/gra...-6870-review/8 Even with only x4 AA it's seeing 26FPS as a minimum and only a 43 average. (yes, that's at x 1200, not 1080p, but the difference is negligible)

OP: I'd try clocking the duallie some more. It can't make up for the lack of cores, but it sure can't hurt.

(Benchmarks done with sig rig at bone stock speeds about a month ago during Sandy Bridge release)

The 6870 runs very close to the 5870 and even faster in some games and faster than the 5850. The 6870 should be able to achieve 60FPS+ easily. The game is not GPU bound, it's CPU bound. No matter how fast of a dual core you have 1920x1200 on High will net you crappy FPS, I even scaled down to 1680x1050 and there was no improvement. I already tried on Wolfdale E8400 @ 4.0Ghz, going to 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 netted me no improvements. My frames on average were 45 FPS and dipping down to mid 25's in heavy tank explosions and debris. If an E8400 is only able to achieve 45 FPS and it's a Dual Core what makes you believe overclocking his E7400 any further is going to net him better results? A QuadCore is needed to run the game better. If you want to see my Q9300 @ 3.3Ghz results click here.

It doesn't matter if you have an E8400 and a GTX 580, BC2 will eat Dual Cores for breakfast like many have mentioned already. My GPU maxes out at 99% inside BC2 because Sandy Bridge is able to push my GPU to the max with the extra cores. Even i7 920/930 overclocked should be able to push 5870 60 FPS average or higher, though another OCN member said he wasn't able to do so which I find a bit difficult to believe:

Benchmarks aren't the ends of all means of performance measurements, no two systems will perform exactly the same. Though benchmarks serve their purpose of giving us a reference point of what our system should perform like. Many times our systems outperform whatever is measured during the testings.
