What to do with 285 AND 470? - Page 5

Sell it, and buy a 2nd 470 to sli. It will do better than having a physx card. I just sold my 275 to buy a 2nd 470..(arrives tomorrow!)

This guy wants to swap a GTX200 card with a GTS450? maybe you could use the GTS450 for Physx and cut down the heat and pwer used?

285 is overkill for phys x. I also think you should sell it, and use it for an ssd if possible, as that would significantly boost your computer experience. You can also sell both cards and get one gtx 570, but that would be a lot of hassle. You may also donate the card if you'd like to. I remember when I was younger I was dying for a radeon 9250 just so I could play half life 2, lol. It would make a kids's year. Either way, I think the card has to go. It's really just using power doing little.
Give it some thought. Decision is yours.

Swyped from my Droid X.

I was thinking about an ssd if I sell the 2gb 285. That would be the best performance upgrade I think. Newegg has two 30gb kingston ssd's in a package deal. That would be REALLY nice in raid 0 for Windows.
I'd like to do that the most.

One gtx 470 is enough for me. I only game on a 1680x1050 22 inch screen.
I might hook my computer up to the 65 inch dlp tv, but that won't happen very often lol

I would also donate the card if I really didn't need the money, but the money is more important to me right now going to school and paying car insurance, etc.

Oh,I HEAR YOU, on that last note.
Ok the ssd, I would recommend one solid ssd, instead of two , because trim is not yet sorted out on raid, and that is very important.

well with the speed of a SSD...

most Raid controllers can't keep up...

so it would be cheaper to buy one SSD and also easier and easier to recover data if need be with another pc (if your pc dyes or you change motherboards)

My board has a Marvell 61xx raid controller.

not sure if you saw this crucial but i would not feel bad in the slightest for using that card as a dedicated physx card.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...on,2764-8.html

it's obviously a very good card to use for physx and with games like Crysis 2 coming out with physx you can expect to be putting it to good use. also they announced metro 2034 and that will be looking for physx as well
