Mother board holding back my processor

Thread Starter
Hi guys, i am using AMD athlon II x4 620 with ASUS n68-s motherboard. I am using gtx 460 1gb, 3.5 gb DDR2 800mhz RAM.
One of my friend said that my motherboard is holding back my processor during gamming. I know i am using a cheap motherboard, but was wondering does really my motherboard degrade the processor and till what extent?
Your successions will be of great help to me.
thank You
Amit

Only excessive heat over a long period would degrade your CPU. And mobo doesn't affect performance whatsoever. A good mobo is needed only for better overclocking.

No your motherboard is not holding back anything in regards to your CPU. It might hold you back during overclocking, but that's about it.

Your board will not degrade processor performance.

this was the message for this motherboard "If you use AM3 / AM2+ CPU on AM2 chipset motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200 MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s), but the CPU frequency will not be influenced."

what does that mean?

HT1.0 is generally fast enough-I saw no change in performance when I upgraded to a HT3.0 board. No one runs a HTT faster than 2000MHz anyways.

You're using a newer processor on an older board. The CPU is capable of HT3 but your board isn't. But that shouldn't affect the performance too much.

So is i buy a new motherboard there wont be any increase in performance while gaming?

A piece of advice to all of you: Never trust IRL friends with computers. They don't know nothing bout anything
