My old Cheap and cheerful Hitachi drives 'vs' my new WD Blacks

I thought my old Hitachi drives in RAID 0 were decent but these new WD's are amazing. Quite a difference in load times and games that stream a lot of data don't stutter any more and are overall smoother

My old 320Gb Hitachi's, 8Mb cace, SATA II, RAID 0 :

My new 640Gb WD Calviar Blacks, 64Mb Cache, SATA III, RAID 0 :

WD's short stroked to same capacity as the old Hitachi RAID 0 set-up :

NOTE : I did have some small downloads running in the background while benching the WD's..

Overall I'm impressed

Nice increase in performance. Why the "640's" for though? I would have though 1 terabyte for a upgrade maybe. What are you using for backup on the raid-0 drives? Enjoy the new speed of the drives.

These 640's were on offer while the 1Tb's were still £30 each more expensive and I don't need that kind of storage.

This is purely a gaming PC with not much valuable data on the drives so I just have a USB external HDD for back up
