What am I missing out on? I use a generic mouse/Pad, and I'm thinking of upgrading.

Right now I use this mouse:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-K81-00004-Optical-Mouse-Blue/dp/B000068MP2"]Amazon.com: Microsoft Optical Mouse (Blue): Electronics[/ame]

I game pretty regularly, but I've never seen a reason to switch...

what am I missing out on?

Mostly a lighter wallet.

If you don't play FPS games, not much

If you do, you'd better get a proper mouse. The movement of the mouse with a gaming mouse feels so much smoother. Now.. There's no need to spend fortunes on anything since there are cheap mouses that beat most of the higher end mouses. The deathadder for palm grip and the G9 for fingertip/claw grip. Both are cheap and perform well..

The G9 isn't exactly cheap... 80 dollars on newegg. And yes, I play almost exclusively FPSes.

Honestly, the main reason that I wanted to get a new mouse is because this one is ugly and totally messes up the color scheme of my desk, but now that you mention it, I'm always complaining about people "flying around me" in crysis wars, faster tracking ability might explain part of that (the other part is I'm a bit of a noob)

There's a difference between the g9 and the g9x

Anywho...

You probably won't be able to get any better unless you have tracking issues such as an irrationally jumping sensor that might turn 90* left randomly if you go too fast with it. (My old mouse did that)
Unless you are aware of problems and are annoyed by them, upgrading your mouse won't probably improve you at all.. It's more about the enjoyement factor.

Now.. Let's find you a mouse

Are you palm grip? http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/html/palmgrip.php

Are you claw grip? http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/html/clawgrip.php

Are you fingertip grip? http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/html/fingertipgrip.php

The Microsoft blue uses a MLT04 optical sensor. It can keep it's own and be preferred over a lot of other so called gaming mice when overclocked to 500hz.

I payed $40 for the last G9x that I bought and that was well over a year ago. Prices fluctuate a lot on them, so paying anything more than $60 is pretty crazy.

And so would be buying a vanilla G9 when the G9x exists.

Read this guide. I agree with EVERYTHING he says except for that part about it being ok to change windows sensitivity to something other than 6/11

Why are you going around posting that picture? It has nothing to do with the topic and everything to do with you trying to show off.
