I don't know many teachers who live in complete poverty. I'm sorry but getting paid $40k a year at the low end of the bell curve to work for a total of 9 months out of the year isn't bad. Besides, teaching is a job one should do because of the love for the job and wanting to help people develop and learn. If you want to make money, go be a lawyer, engineer, or businessman. I believe teaching as well as most other public service jobs should be worked by those wanting to do the job, not make lots of money. If you're in a job just because of money then you're likely going to do a crappy job.

Yes, there are lots of lazy teacher, instructors, and professors in our society who care more about a few bucks than our education, development, and future.

Money is a not a good indicator of motivation and quality of work.

I've found it's mostly only useful up through high school level material (though do have videos on differential equations and linear algebra). I would strongly suggest "iTunes U" if you want to study more advanced subjects. I've used it to view lectures from Stanford and MIT on quantum physics, and it was incredibly helpful.

I just watched a few biology videos and I find them very disappointing. This does not come anywhere close to a true education or a good instructor. They are mildly informative at best. I don't see this replacing any sort of real education.

I used KhanAcadamy videos to supplement my Calculus I course, and found them to be quite helpful.

Stupid idea.
My mum is a teacher, and trust me they need that extra time off from work. It's a stressful job, and there's lots of after hours work to do.

And no, they don't get paid enough.

They get about ~ $40k - $60k a year. Seeing they get summers off I wouldn't complain...

Nothing like a good sensory deprivation tank and educational videos to really learn stuff fast. And pills too.

I honestly thought you were going to have a very good point until I realized that you're not even a teacher.
