Games that will completely fill the VRAM on the 570

Hi Everyone

Been debating with a friend who wants to buy a new card. He's choosing between a 570 and a 6970. I've been recommending the 570 but he feels that the VRAM might become a problem in the future.

So far, GTA 4 is the only game i can think of that requires more than 1.2 GB VRAM. Are there any other games out there that make use of more than 1GB VRAM?

I know there are high res mods for Fallout and Oblivion, but I am restricting my list to retail games for the moment.

Cheers

^^ Say what? I am talking about VRAM not System RAM. Those games run fine even on a Geforce 460 with 768 MB VRAM

I am looking at games that will fill up the Video RAM on the 570 as they are maxed out

He'll be happy with whichever card he gets since they are very close competitors, so just let him decide.

By the way, isn't GTA CPU intensive? I would figure 1.2GB VRAM would be fine for that game and even most high res mods?

GTA 4 takes about 1.1GB
Definitely HD6970 since it's faster.

**wrong topic :|**

edit:

and their are allot of games that will get close to maxing out your memory on FHD like METRO and CRYSIS1 (almost it takes about 1.1G) and probably CRYSIS2 that is going to be as heavy or even heavier then metro2033

a GTX570 will be a better choice since it can overclock much higher and runnign out of memory isnt such a big problem a GTX570 + OC (even with no voltage increase) vs HD6970 (not possible to oc without adding volts) will beat a HD6970 even if it run out of memory also running out of memory on FHD isnt going to be allot

on the heaviest games it might need like 50 max 100 more MB of memory it needs and even that I doubt 1.3GB of memory for a card is allot

What resolution will your friend be playing at.

If I'm not mistaken resolution plays a role in VRAM utilization. No?
