iDevice comedy

How many times have you had someone ask you to get the data off of their iPhone / iPod touch after they have already locked themselves out of their device? We all know that unless they have already jailbroken their phone and set up SSH on it then our chances are limited. Even if the device IS jailbroken iPhone Browser still can't access it if the device is locked. Of course you ask them if they have synced / backed up their phone recently and they tell you no....

I'm just pointing out the obvious fact that sometimes people expect you to work miracles when one just isn't possible. I've worked on quite a few iPhones and that is the most common problem I run into. Someone's significant other thought it would be funny to keep entering their passcode incorrectly and lock themselves out of the device permanently.

Venting ended.

I don't understand why they haven't implemented something to let you unlock it, by hooking it to a computer and logging into your apple account or something like that. I know android has something like that, you can have it unlocked by either calling or going to the phone provider.

You can unlock it by syncing it with the pc that you activated it with. For most it isn't an issue. But for those who activated it on their friends computer it becomes and issue. 9 times out of 10 they've had to reformat their pc due to downloading things they shouldn't (i.e. Virus from torrents and such).

The biggest "repair" problem I've had with iDevices is when people pull it from their computers while itunes is syncing without them asking it too. Causes the whole thing to lock up (or used to). Easy fix though.
