It's clocked at 4.8ghz yet I get beaten by an i7 920 @ 4.4ghz???

Physics score:7405

this has to be wrong?

Low?? I get 5800+ with my 2500k at 4.8ghz and 6950 unlocked and overclocked.

3D Mark loves threads. HT may give the i7 an advantage.

I disabled all my programs and got 8000 score, but it still seems low.

and the i7 got 7500 without ht.

I expected a bigger difference.

ah well it still rapes lol.

IIRC the 920 has HT and the 2500k doesn't... so this seems about right.
Yes, the 8 threads are giving the 920 an advantage there. You should still beat a 920 if he has HT turned off.

With no ht on.

How do you know the HT is disabled? Link the other result page that you are talking about.

EDIT:

Actually, now that I look at it something seems to be off here.

Here is a 2600k at 5.5GHz: Note the GPU score and the Physics score... also note the clock speeds of the GPU.

Here is another 2600k at 5.2GHz: Also has a high physics score but a really low GPU score considering having almost 1100MHz core clock on his 580.

So in both those Sandy Bridge systems they have really high physics scores but low GPU scores even though both the CPU and GPU are heavily overclocked.

Now here is a i7-920 at 4.4GHz: Low Physics score but really high GPU score, almost 13k, but has much lower clock speeds than the previous two Sandy Bridge systems.

Even at 4.2GHz and 870MHz GPU core, the graphics scores are still in the 12,000 range... so it just seems like something in the Sandy Bridge platform is really screwing with the GPU performance.

Wow weird.

Maybe it's a bios/uefi setting?
