I don't know why people think GeoHot is gonna get completely smashed in this case, when he has already in ways beat Sony on some of their bluffs against him. He is no where close to down and out and cease and desist. If he did that Sony would win right then and there, this video shows he is not willing nor has any close desire to do so. Sorry my friend, that is the coward way out. That may fly in a different case, but Geo has some fighting chance.

hell have a career and this will be his calling card. Rep to the man for his effort and skill, and how how hes going against a large corp. i wish swarms of people would flood the court room with support for him! overrule the judge and lawyers with sheer presence. if its civil court, lets bring in KNOWLEDGEABLE civilians to support and oversee him and help judge all this.

if i was his lawyer it would be in my best moral interest to not the kid a $ for my effort. (excluding price of the litteral court paperwork filing) this would be a free case to prove a point! if only a few lawyer would work for the cause and join it would be a much easier battle...

Geohot Should walk away from this without ANY debt, and come out with multiple job offerings! and the rest of his college covered!

I hate the DMCA too, but geez...get a grip.

And I sure wish people would learn what the First Amendment actually covers. Admittedly it can be murky because of how it has been grossly misapplied to so many things over the years...but still, how one could draw a line from this idea to "violates freedom of speech" is beyond me...
Godamn, ywhy aren't there more of you? I love how fanatical these people are, and how quickly they jump on Sony even though what Geohot did was wrong. "But but but, he's our heeeeeeeeeeroooooo."

He's hacking the console, not "Jailbreaking" it. And I wish these nubscrubs would use the vernacular correctly.

Really? Then why is he still unemployed if he's so great? And he's not a hero at all. He's provided security holes that make it impossible to get rid of cheaters. Yup, that's a great hero for you. Screwing the very people that buy the console for entertainment. Great job advocating for this douchebag.

No company will take him while this legal battle is going on. Once it is resolved though I'm sure he will have offers.

Google offering money to a hacker under a non-disclosure agreement is not the same as Sony hiring Geohot for blackmailing them after ALREADY making the hack available worldwide. A lot of you are STILL failing to understand this.

YES, companies do hire hackers to help them find security holes in their software. Geo first hacked the PS3, released the tools online, while at the same time telling Sony "lulz hire me?" You honestly think a company would hire someone that just released their security hole worldwide? Had Geo approached Sony BEFORE releasing the hack, and said "Sony, I found a major security hole in the PS3 that allows this and this. I am willing to work with you to patch this security hole before others discover it," Sony MORE THAN LIKELY would have hired him.

At this point, Google certainly wouldn't, and I doubt any other company would. I'm willing to bet any company would reject wanting to hire this prick out of concern that if he ever finds a security hole in their software, he'll disclose it to a competitor for money.
