Here's to hoping. More competition means better prices

What he's saying is people have a bias, just because Contender A launches a better/faster product than current reigning champ Contender i, doesn't mean the everyone cheering on Contender i are going to change their tune. It happens all the time, for various reasons (fanboyism, buyers remorse, etc), but happens none the less.

I don't see Bulldozer being enough. It'll launch, give a good 1-2 to current SB's, perhaps with a few chips beating out the stock clock 2600k's, but then get beat back down in the high end/server market with new SB's (the EX's) and/or Ivy Bridge and or X68 and or LGA2011 - Whatever intel's plans for High end are in H2 2011 - Relegating them back to their current position where they have to battle it out on price/performance, as opposed to the performance crown. And honestly, nothing really wrong with that. Their APU's have shown promise, enough to make intel sweat and push ahead their timeline for ivy, so I'd wager we'd got a good battle ahead, new chips from both sides and plenty of price cuts to come. Win-Win regardless of who's saying who's the winner.

I'm interested to see how BD will OC.

True, those statements can be so irritating.

+1 to that.

Unless somebody has something of substance to throw out there, it's just that. Don't worry guys, you know things will become clearer soon since AMD can't just sit there and do nothing - You can believe Intel has taken notice and they won't sit on their hands waiting around.

The reason why AMD didn't gain ground in the server market is because of Intel and their dirty tricks. While the suits were settled a while ago it'll take time for the effect to be felt. With OEM's stocking more AMD chips and Apple switching to AMD they'll sell more and make more cash.

Who knows where AMD is heading, I've seen like 7 articles stating that x bigwig left from AMD. Intel needs some competition.

That's the idea. Dirty tricks of Microsoft helping Intel sell integrated dirt-performing IGPs (non.vista capable chips labeled as capable, remember?), Intel doing obscure tricks with Dell to sell more chips (later on time Dell forced Intel to sell a part of their shares because they wanted both of the companies), and Intel (again) doing dirty trades with OEMs to sell more mobile chips (they were fined for that later on time).

Now that market's a bit more fair, and AMD shows they're more than capable of matching Intel, and not only that, at lower prices, maybe world will be a better place for us the enthusiast market.

On a side note, Inte'ls ad campaigns are awful compared to AMD's

No...just...No.

Llano gets outclassed(many x over actually) by AMD's very own Athlon II... Comparing a Core i3 to Brazos is blasphemy.

If you mean iGPU performance then you didn't really make that distinction if your post.

I really hope that this is the end of the more weaker cores are better strategy. I'd like to see AMD build beefy cores again whether it'll be a 6 or quad core processor. Same thing for their GPUs.
