Building a new Rig. [You Design, ill build.] - Page 2

yah, alot of the comparisons i have been seeing were using the 5870 1GB version the ones i got are the 2GB Eyefinity 6 Version. So hopefully they are a little better then there predecessor.

I have a 2TB WD drive i will be transplanting into my new rig, probably along with my 300GB WD Raptor. Into the new machine. I'm liking where your build is going spykurv im going to look more into the obsidian case. I saw the Full Tower ones and like em, but don't really want to go with the F-T model. (Going to edit my first post to include the HDD's.)

Hmm wondering if i go with water cooling should i use my 360 Rad.. that makes making a build tough to keep portable.. so i may just have to buy a 240 Rad. ohh well, gotta do more research.

WELL... if ultra portability is truly your desire, I can make something based on 1366 and you can change it to 1155 once they're back in stock. This will a very portable build list I suppose.

Raids - Not really, more the most part im only raiding my servers, which house my important data. for the other machines i use if anything happens i don't mind going from scratch.

Alright i have made some decisions finally. Thanks for all your your help but it's not over yet. Here's my choices for now. I'm a little too impatient to wait until april/march for the sandy to come out of her hole.

For the time being i'm going to rip apart my current PC, and stick the new parts into my Antec 900 case only for the time being. I'm waiting for the Obsidian 650d to come out when it does ill think about OCing my new system. Until then its going to run stock.

- Corsair XMS3 Dominator 6GB DDR3-1600 CL 7-8-7-20
- Core i7 950
- Seasonic X850

Mobo
I'm torn between the ASUS Sabertooth x58, and the ASUS Rampage III Formula. Gah... can't decide. Please help....

It really depends on your budget and the features you want, both boards are solid, there's really no point in spending $300+ on the Rampage since you're only setting up 2 cards.

You should look at the P6X58D-E, which is an awesome board, which a lot of people are using:

Here are links to the clubs.

Are you in Canada, and thus looking at NCIX? If so, newegg.ca has better prices.

Check out my sig rig. Built 2 computers with my sig rig specs (mine has a cm690II and the other a lianli and higher OC for a friend), never had a single problem.

If the large amounts of SSD recommendations weren't clear enough, absolutely worth it. Most noticeable upgrade I've made to my computer in a looooong time. I personally wish I had a little bit more than 80gb (the Agility2 90gb would probably be perfect for me), but it's all dependent on your usage. I like having Warcraft, Starcraft, and usually one more game on my SSD, and with Warcraft and Starcraft increasing in size every couple of months, it gets hard for me to keep that third game on the SSD with an 80gb.

I found a store that might still sell the defective 1155 boards, should i just go ahead and buy it and then RMA it once the fixed ones start coming out?

I recently did a build for a friend with a Corsair Force 90 drive and I can't wait to put an SSD in my rig. Everything was just snappier.
