I'm due for a new smartphone, I currently have the iPhone 3G, and would like to get something with a dual-core processor so it can actually handle multitasking and/or run apps more smoothly. I don't want another Apple product.

What I need it to be able to do:

-have a dual core processor. enough said

-have at least 512 MB RAM.

-Adobe Flash support, so needs to run Android 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 or Windows Phone

-Touch phone. I'm ok with the handful of buttons at the bottom of a windows phone or an android, but I don't want a full qwerty keypad.

-5 Megapixel or better camera with flash

-multitasking support. If I get a call in the middle of running something, I want to be able to come back to it.

-some kind of games. Don't care if it's angry birds or bowling, I just need something to keep me entertained in a grownup atmosphere (because apparently PSP's aren't professional *facepalm*)

-make calls and text. Should go without saying, but I don't want to be surprised.

-At least 4GB of onboard storage, preferrably expandable by MicroSD.

-No crappy plastic. I don't want something that looks like it cost $1 for a kid in taiwan to make.

-I prefer a tough screen. I am human, and drop my phone occasionally.

-Decent screen resolution. at least 400k pixels.

-3.5 mm headphone jack.

-Last but not least, work on AT&T, with minimal to no modding/unlocking/work on my part.

I'm considering the Motorola Atrix, the Samsung Galaxy S2, (hopefully) a second generation Dell Streak, or, as a last resort, the next spawning of the iPhone. Any feedback or new suggestions would be much appreciated.

Atrix looks like the best phone available right now, unfortunately the keyboard addition costs $500.

Fair enough, but one only has to assume it will have to have one to compete with android phones.

If your not desperate, I would wait until the next generation iPhone is released before making a decision on buying a new smartphone.

I've been using WinMo phones for an eternity, but I'm making the switch on March 6th to the Atrix (preordered earlier today ).

I'm honestly most excited about the Galaxy S2. I plan on buying the international version though (assuming nothing better comes out). Far more support and no &(*^&^*^% carriers mucking it up.

Me too...that S2 sounds more appealing with every review.

So let me get this straight: Atrix is badass, can't go wrong there. Galaxy S2 needs more time to flesh out, but should be awesome. IPhone 5 has that hideous slideout keyboard in the prototype, but will probably have top-tier specs like Atrix and Galaxy S2. Dell Streak 2 (Opus One possibly?) isn't for sure even in existence, and no one really gives a half damn about the rest of what's on the market?
