No one's complaining, I'm actually quite happy with my Yates. With 11 fans in my case I didn't feel like spending $150+ on fans (that's a pretty conservative estimate considering the AP-15's or the Noiseblockers etc are roughly $15-20 per fan). Sorry? I'm not made of money, and I elected to save some there and spend it on other things, like my 800D and WC parts. It happens that I'm in on the group-buy for GTs, but that's because they're something closer to $8 per fan, and I'm in for 9.

I have Yate High Speed 120s turned down on my fan controller and you can barely hear them, airflow is fine through the rads. Really for ~$5/fan you can't go wrong with Yates, and there really is no fan out there that comes close to the price/performance offered.
Coming from yate loon high speed to gt-15's is amazing.

for the yates to equal the sound of my gt's, i have to turn it all the way down via my fan controller and i have REALLY sensitive ears. I have to keep my ipod down to lowest settings via volume limit.

my gf thinks im crazy at times cuz i hear things o.O

but noise blockers or gentle typhoons are good for the expensive/silent things

yate loons are always the best price/performance you can really get, imo

Yes, I'm pretty sensitive to the noise too, this rig is here at my desk, in my bedroom, so I like it to be quiet... I'm getting the GT AP-29s to see what they're like, I couldn't pass up the deal, so I may convert to them, but there's really no way to argue the price/performance with Yates haha. Plus the low and medium Yates really do perform well, quiet and lots of airflow!

Right now, the HD4870 OC is doing fine without a fan BUT, I'd like to add one anyway, set it to around 5V and lower the fan on the GPU a bit that way stopping that annoying noise it creates. I set it down to 40% I think and it was PERFECT!

I'm getting a heatsink in a couple of days, once that's here, some sound would be shed from the stock Intel fan too.

Damn I so miss my Dell PC. (yes, I never thought I'd say it.) but it was one of the quietest PC's I have ever heard. (heard is the wrong word.) it had a MASSIVE stock heatsink that looked like it would cost 100's in standalone, and a massive 40x140mm fan. (yes, 40 x 140 front intake fan...) I do wonder why board manufacturers don't adopt to BTX.

Anyways...

I would suggest Silverstone AP121 for the GPU side fan as it supposedly creates a strong current right in front of it rather than pushing air all around. I haven't personally tested it though, but will be able to do so in about a week.

Looking forward to it. I'm considering getting a couple of them as intake fans for a HAF 932 I'm getting soon.

Hmm, only 35cfm though?

Well the idea is the 35cfm will be directed forwards... rather than much more CFM directed everywhere else. We'll see how that works in practice. I'll be comparing it to a 140mm tr x-silent that has 60cfm at 900rpm.

Thanks, let me know how it turns out, I get instant email when a reply is made. If you see decent improvment, then I wouldn't mind ditching out a few pennies more.
