Btw, i think you should hold onto buying atm and wait for the new 2011 lineup to be out. The Samsung 2011 lineup are improved a lot of problems. Check out this thread on AVSforum Link

"LED > LCD > Plasma" just remember that LED is actually a lcd panel, just a different backlight, most of the led screens you can purchase are edge lit lcds, which actually produce poor image quality, and back backlight bleeding. essentially 4 leaks of light from the corners much like some computer lcds have. Its more noticable on dark scenes though, bright scenes not so much. only real plus to the led vs lcd is the size of the screen, much thinner and uses much less power. You end up paying a real premium for going 'green', plasma uses atleast twice as much power as a regular lcd and far more then led panel. Other things to consider are the leds have very high contrast ratio's and some people consider the image quality somewhat fake looking, in comparison to plasma, where is tends to look more like real film. leds almost always looks better under retail store lighting, where plasma looks amazing in a dark/dim room. one negative point for plasma's which can be very real is the 'humming' sound of the tv, which some models have. i know after reading on forums that samsung makes Very loud plasma's. many people have returned the units after hearing the sound in their home, almost like a humming fridge. panasonic models are very quiet.

get the plasma! honestly dont make the same mistake i did. I bought last year a 40 inch 60hz LCD, last boxing day a 55 inch 120hz LCD and i bought last week a cheap 42 inch plasma. Believe it or not, i like the plasma 10 times more than my expensive LCDs. The only advice that i can give you for a plasma is to avoid as much as possible pausing a movie.(i put the samsung scrolling thing) also, try watching a lot of movies for the first 100 hours because thats when its mostly sensitive to burn in. and btw burn in is not a problem. i havnt gotten one but because i got mine open box, the last owner did cause burn in. The funny part is that i never notice it! only when the screen is black i see a bit of green. But dont worry about all the problems people say about them. and i never worry about burn in. smile.gif

I honestly don't understand the logic in this thread. He said he had a sunny well lit room.It doesn't matter if you like plasma or led lcd better. You should by a tv that will work well in the room it's going in.I have not personally owned a plasma but everything I have read say's plasma tvs don't do well in a well lit room. The decision couldn't be easier.

sunny rooms are only sunny during the day...most people watch tv at night...the disparity is not necessarily large between glare from some lcd's/leds to plasma. Depends on the plasma and the lcd it is being compared to.

Plasma's provide better picture and better size for a cheaper price. Can be worth the small sacrifice of some glare issues. Also plasma glare has made good strides at least on good models and is no where near as bad as old rear-projection HDTV's in most cases
