I'd definitely look into a MicroCenter if one's near you and get the i7 950 and one of these Motherboards unless you want to get a more expensive motherboard to fit your needs.
Or you could just spend an Extra $100 and get the one on newegg
i7 950

You could also take the AMD route as gaming wouldn't use more than 2 Cores and you're performance theoretically wouldn't change.
You could get this combo with the 955 or a X6 AMD processor

or

Just to give you an idea of your choices. But personally for gaming NEITHER choice will affect you as either will provide you with great performance that you would not regret.

hmm the amd seems like a good deal if i can get this till the sandy's or the ivys come out and upgrade considering its only 290 for a cpu and mobo or would the 950 be almost as good as the sandy and if i get a nice board work amazingly well considering this is mostly for gaming. and also would yall suggest sli gtz 570 or 1 gtx 580.

well im sort of budgeted im trying to keep under 1600 - 1700 maybe a litle bit more.
Umm how does the 950 compare on par with the sandy bridges? overclocking and otherwise. would the amd that he posted be able to sustain my setup without bottlenecking for the little while i wanna use it before sandy.

Clock for clock it goes like this
SB > i7 950 > AMD 4-6

If the Sandy bridge comes out in a Month or a couple of weeks and you have $400 to spare on a Motherboard and CPU by all MEANS go for it. But the performance for gaming you wouldn't recognize the difference once simply because games aren't optimized to use more than 2 cores they might work better or run smoother with 4 or more but technically you're going to run the game without any hiccups with either system.

The Sandy Bridge is newer and will out perform the i7 950 and AMD 4-6 Core HANDS DOWN. And if you have the money and time than by all means WAIT and get the better of the deal, if you don't care and want to buy something now buy the i7 950 or the AMD 955 or 6 Core and grab an SSD if you can as well and finish your system off.

With either system you're not going to get a bottleneck its not like your running QUAD 580's or 6970's, as both system hit 4GHz FAIRLY easy.

I'm not sure when Sandy Bridge comes back out but if it's close wait no need in building a brand new system and not get the best if its in your Budget.

Edit: Sounds like maybe a Month or so maybe not sure >_>

not really, the sandy bridge wasnt going to replace the 1366 boards, just the 1155 and 775
and its geared more for notebooks and mid systems, since they all have the intel gpu built in

sandy is kinda a sidestep to 775/1155
1366 is still better

imo
amd pii x6 > i7 1366 > amd pii x4 > i5 115x > amd athlon ii > i3 115x/775

i have the budget but not the time in a sense. i can probably get the time and i might just buy the build and use one 570 in my current system.

Best thing I could say to do is look at Benchmarks and decide if the Performance is good enough to wait or if its better than whats out currently as well.
