First MMORPG - Page 4

Try DC Universe. I play MMOs on occasion and this has to be one of the better ones I have ever come in contact with. It is beginner friendly yet more than deep enough for advanced players.

I don't know what all has been said so far, but I've played a few MMOs over the years (FFXI, FFXIV, Everquest 2, WoW, Guild Wars, EvE and a couple free ones) If you want something sort of like WoW, but, imho, better, try RIFT when it comes out next month. You could also do the open beta which starts tomorrow. I find it pretty fun. I like the way the classes work over WoW. And the world rift events are quite entertaining.

I was a very hardcore World of Warcraft player played since the end of vanilla through the final season of Wrath of Lich King. I was a 4 time gladiator arena player and heavily enjoyed the game. The only issue is the game is very repetative you work really hard for a few months albeit an arena season or a new raid then you do the same thing again the next patch. The initial grind will be painful and a bit boring but if you do it with friends its not that bad.

The end game is worth the grind.

Like everyone say try Rift. I have been playing it, and it's a lot of fun.

Also what kind of setting are you looking in a MMO? Because if you want fantasy or germanic/norse mythology, you can try WoW, Rift, FFIX or IV, Guild War or wait for Guild War 2 or Tera. If you want futuristic science fiction settings try Eve, or you can wait for the Start Wars MMO. There is also Superhero type setings like DC Online, City of Hero/Villiam, Champions online.

First choose a seting you like. Them look for the best MMO for that type of setting.

There are about a bazillion MMORPGs out there, and what you like is really going to depend on your style of gameplay. I'd highly recommend looking up gameplay videos on youtube of games you are interesting in, and also searching for some livestreams for the games. That's going to give you a good sense of what the games actually play like.

Infinite AION

If you want to try AION you can use this private server to get a feel for what it's like. It's a well run server and has no costs to the user. Just accept the terms of agreement then click connect in the navigation bar for information on how to get started.

It's perfectly safe, I play on the server myself (IGN Lifeshield) as a Cleric if you wish to add me, and is pretty well populated.

If you have ever played Guild Wars you can play in a similar style (point and click movement) or the traditional WASD movement style.

Guild Wars is well worth a look too. I played that for quite a few years. Looking forward to Guild Wars 2 when it eventually gets a release.
