Will a "Babyliss 5546AU 1200W Nano Dual Voltage Hair Dryer" work the same as using a heatgun to resolder points and stuff on the xbox motherboard?

I don't think a hair dryer will get hot enough to melt the metal.

i'm assuming you got the 3rod. i found pulling the fans connector and letting it run till it overheats itself works just fine. you just got to watch it as you don't want to forget about it as you can cause damage to the system this way if left too long

The only reason I say it won't is because if it did they would have law suits on their hands dealing with people getting heat burned.

As with the heat gun it is designed to create a lot of heat.

Just do the xclamp fix and let it run with fans unhooked untill it goes into thermal protect mode, once cooled plug in fans and pop in a game!

A hairdryer wont work nearly as well as a heatgun and you should not need one to fix an xbox anyways.

i got rid of the xclamps and bolted mine down the way it should have been in the first place and then added a fan to the system for an intake. haven't had the 3rod since.
