What applications, if any, do home users use that require 16 threads? Even if somebody does find a way to use that many threads, what's to stop that person from buying a server motherboard (maybe even one with multiple CPU sockets) and a server CPU? How big of a market segment do you think the overclocking community is, especially the segment that can afford a 16-core CPU, or better yet, can actually use 16 threads, let alone 16 overclocked threads? Not big enough to warrant putting out a 16-core client CPU, at least not at this point in time...Remember, AMD is a business first and foremost.

From about a year ago, when we launched, the Opteron 6176 SE vs the Xeon X5680

SPECint_rate_2006 by ~5%
SPECfp_rate_2006 by ~20%

I am guessing the 6180 SE and the X5690 are about the same, if not better for AMD (we go up 200MHz, they go up 100MHz) but I have been too busy this week to get the final numbers.

As a Intel user for the past decade, i hope to god AMD release something to make them sweat a bit. The market needs some proper competition.

I'm turning blue from holding my breath so long, though. And beginning to doubt AMD have what it takes.

Last November we said bulldozer client products launch in Q2. Why do people have an expectation that it should be here now?

Because expecting the impossible, and then getting upset when said expectations haven't been met, will give these people "justification" for their decisions.

People can't wait till Q2. Personally i don't really care, my 1055T is awesome for me at the moment, tell your superiors you did a good job

If the new chips have a benefit for me, then i'll buy one. i'm not looking for 2x 980x performance, i'm just looking for a decently priced chip that can meet my 2 year upgrade cycle.

I am being pretty patient. I plan to build out 2-3 systems this year and I don't have a bulldozer in my hands yet. But, then again I turned down an offer on some early silicon because I am traveling too much to build a system.

Still waiting on someone to give me a C32 board, but when you are begging for handouts, you can't get too pushy

Fanboi angry because AMD took over Intel?
