[NPR]Man vs. Machine: IBM supercomputer "Watson" vs Jeopardy! champions - Page 3

I dont see why people compare a machine to a human, a super computer sure is fast, but if you think about it they are just doing the same thing, millions of times a second...

I was listening to this this morning on npr. The mentioned though, that the computer will sometimes entirely mis-comprehend what a question is asking, which ends with very funny consequences.

I also wonder what the signaling input is for the computer. No doubt a computer, if it "thinks" it knows the answer, will be able to out-buzz-in a human, but it would be interesting to see how the buzz-in times would be different if the computer's signals had to be transferred to mechanical inputs for buzzing in, just like a human hitting their buzzer. I would think that if you took the "competition" aspect out of it, a human with lots of trivia knowledge (like Ken) would likely score roughly the same as the computer in terms of how many questions they knew the answer to. I think the edge the computer has--and why it can beat people so horrendously--is in how quickly it can buzz in.

Maybe IBM should spend time to beat a Go Chess player on a 19x19 board.

Yes, Watson can run Crysis. However, Crytek recently reported that occasionally Crysis 2 dips below 30FPS on the Gamer setting.
