it will perform okay at best, as one side of the heatsick will not be working to its full potential

It has a dual tower layout with wide spacing, its really designed for 2 fans. With one fan half of it wont dissipate heat as fast the other half.

1x 38mm in the middle and ur good to go

a good 38mm like a san ace 1011, should provide more static pressure than 2x 120mm fans (assuming ur not going to compare the san ace to 25mm deltas)

The Silver Arrow can cool a 4.0 overclocked i7 930/950 without any fans and still keep it under 85c. One fan brings it down to 78c. These are loaded temps.

It will have no problem cooling SB with one fan unless your shooting for 5.7.

From http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages..._review,9.html

"Since the Silver Arrow can support up to 3 fans (only two sets of clips are provided), I thought it would be interesting to see how performance scales up with the number of fans. With a single TR TY-140 in the middle acting as both a push & pull fan, performance dropped by merely 1.25C compared to using two fans...Scaling with a third fan was less dramatic, only improving temperatures by 0.5C."
