Decisions about motherboards

Thread Starter
Hello guys,

Since I have not much knowledge about motherboards, but I am building myself a desktop with an i5-2500k and RAM probably 1600mhz+ in addition to a GTX580 probably with custom coolers (meaning it's gonna be big).

First of all, which mobo brands are marked as the best?
And is there a big difference between ATX, mini ATX, etc.

Anyway, here are a few options that I need info about (all 1155 of course):

1) MSI P67A-C45 P67
2) Asus P8P67
3) ASRock P67 Pro3 P67
4) Asus P8H67 H67
5) Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H H67

ATX and mATX are simply sizes, if your case can fit it, go ATX. Then its just a matter of narrowing down by features what you like. All of the listed brands are top notch anwill not let you down

I believe the best right now is the Gigabyte board

difference between atx and mini atx is the size. mini atx are more widely used for small compact pcs like htpc.

i would check out all the info on sandybridge currently. I think even newegg has pulled sandybridge chips currently due to the sata issue.

If your running a dedicated graphics card, in your case a GTX 580, then you should get a P67 Motherboard and not a H67 one.

H67 does not support overclocking the CPU
