A better CPU cooler than H50 without blocking high profile RAMs - Page 3

My vote also goes for the Archon, it's incredible. And just like others said, first check your case and see if it fits.

Yup. Temps that are fine for an i7 will smoke and a Phenom.

I'd definitely recommend getting the Megahalems/Venomous X as those are the two options that meet your needs of A) not wanting W/C or all in one and B) RAM clearance. I keep my i7-960 at 4.1ghz w/ HT below 70c at full load with ambient of approx 22-23.

Oh daym, came back expecting like 3 replies but instead got 3 pages!! lol!!
Thank you guys so much for helping out! I'll definitely check out the Archon and Megahalems while contacting Corsair about this possible faulty H50.
I mean yeah 1.32v isn't exactly low, but I've seen a lot higher ones who run cooler than mine, so definitely something fishy still.
and wow I didn't know H50s didn't have flat base, thats odd for sure hmmm...
and thank you djk11 for the images, that really cleared things up!
Right now Real Temp shows 70C when running folding@home, which in my setup uses 4 threads at about 40% each only. :/

Wait, I just came across with another one: Prolimatech Super Mega, and by the looks of the reviews they do an awesome job. Does anyone own one or know it'll work without blocking the RAMs?

Yep. Lap your H50 before doing anything else. >:I

Note: Before lapping a thermal transfer surface one might want to ensure that the "bowing" is not intentional.

Bowing equates to convex and in some situations the very mild curvature is intentional.

If you have h50 your next step would be h70 or full blown wc loop, buying a huge air cooler would not be reasonable
