Well, the poll's question is little biased...

Why would it fail? There two different architectures of course one will be better thene the other. But i will still say with AMD just because they are the best to me with there prices and stuff. Like i go my Phenom II X4 955 for $148 and an i3 cost $130(AUS) much better value for money.

Whoops, triple post.

Then you aren't looking properly, I've seen it in multiple Bulldozer/Ivybridge threads including this one.

I've been following this thread all last night, the couple people who said anything like that said it once and went away. The people that have actually consistently been arguing in here have been saying as of now intel is faster and that until benchmarks of bulldozer are released it is nothing but speculation. The only fanboy posts that have been going on throughout here have been from AMD fanboys spewing garbage.

Sounds familiar. I remember reading on OCN, "4 Cores 8 threads vs just 4/6 cores. AMD can't compete."

Now I'm hearing, "8 threads not the same as 8 cores, only fair comparison is IB vs BD."

What is this...

IMO, BD won't outperform SB.
AMD keeps falling behind Intel more and more...

And even if it was 10% in everything there is still the extra 30% clock for clock that sandy bridge is faster than the phenom II's. Intel as of now very much is superior when it comes to performance and anyone who is arguing against that is delusional. I am not denying amd has its place in the market at this time but when it comes to who is the fastest it is no contest. And I'm sure I'm going to get labeled a fanboy again for pointing out these facts that every single benchmark and review out there backs up. And where have I insulted anyone who is using AMD chips? I insulted the fanboy wuttz but aside from that I haven't been hostile in the least.

I agree the advantage intel puts in is shady but even without it sandy bridge is still way ahead clock for clock and overclockability.

I'm sure Intel has the edge over AMD as of right now and it may just have the edge all along the cpu war. I spent $84.99 on a 555 dual Phenom II @ 3.2 and turned it into a 955 pretty much. Its performance is slightly lower than the 955 but that's not even 2-3%. I just bought better cooling to replace the "heatsink" it came with and will most likely be able to push some decent numbers. My point is, where are you going to get a quad that performs this well for $85?

Note:
NOT bashing on Intel.

Exactly, that is where AMD really shines atm. No one is denying that. But when you are spending the money on a 580 or sli/xfire cards and getting a phenom II you are just harming your performance. Granted it will still play just fine but there is a noticeable difference in many cpu intensive games.

When I play it's usually Bad Company 2 @ 1920x1080, 8xaa, 16xaf and everything maxed (can't remember what else there is). I never get any stutter and FPS is almost always above 55-60. 3,2ghz and stock 6850 clocks (soon to be RMA'd for a 6950) yielded these results. Quite frankly I don't think spending any more money than $175 maybe $200 for a CPU is necessary if people are just gonna play games. For other things it's a whole 'nother discussion.

Once again, for those who still didn't get it:

Ivy Bridge is NOT socket LGA 2011!

LGA 2011 is rumoured to be the new socket for the EXTREME Versions of Sandy Bridge (Still 32nm CPUs)

Ivy Bridge is simply a die shrink of the Sandy Bridge architecture, and these CPUs will be available on both LGA 1155 and LGA 2011.

Thank you.
