i wouldnt say that they are always one step behind. look at the server market. Opteron chips sell more then xeon chips period. AMD bang for buck, not just there CPU's but GPU's aswell. and they perform for the cash you spend.

Aite so the AM2/3 didnt do as good as we wanted going up against C2D and SB, but the 939 socket was a killer compared to the 775 Prescott.

I think you should be comparing bulldozer to Ivybridge.

My advice to to WAIT until new tech comes out and then buy the old tech that enthusiasts/early adopters are dying to sell to buy the newest tech.

Even when bulldozer is released AMD will have another CPU to compete with... the ivybridge.

I don't see how people can be this confident in BD failing when no real solid info has been provided regarding performance. I know AMD's track record has not been that great the past few years but it seems they have been doing a lot better these past couple.

I have a feeling BD will bring AMD back to where they should be against Intel and will probably trade blows with SB in single threaded programs and edge it slightly in multi-threaded programs due to having 8 cores rather than 4 hyperthreaded cores.
