I think you meant Intel, enhanced Bulldozer will be released around the same time as Ivy Bridge, and they are the chips that are most comparable to each other.

C'mon guys, can't we cut these threads out... It's been old for a while and nothing good comes of it. Why doesn't a mod just shut these down to keep the peace. Sure if its about the known architecture of BD and how it compares or differs structurally from SB then sure, why not... But another "DB vs SB - who wins?" thread... seriously...

The intel kids are afraid, all negative comments have been from them so far

Short answer, no it will beat out SandyBridge and cost about half.

Also about this bloke that spoke out in France I think it was a little while ago, he claimed that the first bulldozers are compatible with AM3 socket.
A. you need to ask the motherboard companies, not AMD. We are supporting bulldozer on AM3+ only.

B. I will probably talk to Steeve when I am in paris in a couple of weeks, but I am sure that he did not say that. Every time I have seen the quote it was translated, my guess is something is lost in translation. AMD is not saying that BD is supported in AM3.

The nature of this business is that there is always something on the horizon. Interesting that the intel crowd has already shifted to IB at this point.

Wow... JF I just gotta say thanks for being so patient... I have no clue how many times I see you post the same thing over and over and over on so many different threads it makes my head spin, and no1 seems to get it. AMD need to hire you a few assistants just to keep up on your forum posts to keep pounding this info out there, otherwise you must be one tired man.

Seriously guys, how many times, in how many mediums does AMD need to say that BULLDOZER IS ONLY SUPPORTED ON AM3+ BY AMD.

If AMD could make BD fully backwards compatible they would, theres no conspiracy, BD is a brand new arch and very different. If you can swallow that Intel needs a new socket every time they make a new revision, then why can't you swallow the simple fact that AMD could not get all the features of BD to work in the old AM3 socket without some work, and obviously this is why Some board manufactorers can say they will support BD on CERTAIN AM3 boards, because they were designed to physically accept BD chips. But lets not make any mistakes, did any of those companies state there would be 100% functionality of all features on those non AM3+ boards that will drop in a BD chip? I haven't seen them say that exact thing, its always "AMD's next generation 32nm chip will work in the following boards: yadda yadda". Sure it will work, but at what level? These companies have hundreds of lawyers at their disposal for a reason, and leaving vague interpretations is one of their best tricks.

^Asus says their Crosshair IV Formula & Extreme will run the Bulldozer to it's full potential.

I'll see if I can find the link. Otherwise I hope it is true since I want the Crosshair IV Formula board with a Bulldozer tearing it up
post #197 of 616
Yes please, otherwise I've been preaching some rather off stuff. Everyting I've seen said no specifics about the CPU, only stating AMD's 32nm process or AMD's next generation processor, which could be anything, even a Phenom II die shrink if AMD does it.

So if you find the link, let me know!

only one person in this entire thread know that answer to your question, an i bet he really likes his job, so he probably wont answer the question,
IMO i think BD will be about equal to SB, i think they will trade blow in different area, but none of this intel completely owning amd. Well i hope so at least....
I don't think they will fail. They might be a little slower in performance but still have a really great price tag and once again there will be no app on the market that can challenge it. It will most likely be a great CPU but probably won't match the performance of a 990x.

The i7 2600K matches the 990X in gaming, although the K has higher clocks.
Bulldozer had better at least match 2600K performance while still having a competitive price point.
Intel only has two second gen Core CPU's that can overclock, all of AMD's Bulldozers are said to be capable of overclocking. This is great for "enthusiast" users with a tighter budget.
