The difference is I know where AMD is good or good enough and you believe your needs are the only needs that matter and can't fathom why anyone would want something better for the same price or $100 more.

Fanboy away!

So you're saying AMD is only good enough is for someone who just reads email and uses Facebook, with maybe the occasional game ?
The SB fiasco was just going on at the time i got this machine.

EDIT- Haha, noticed a Maxtor drive in the screenshot.

No, I'm saying everyone has different needs and technology is never "worth" the price it carries for the small increases in performance it provides.

Is there anyway you can keep an open mind without drawing conclusions or using words that I have not in places I have not?

Edit: Haha yeah and a 9800GT, the build was pieced together Did you notice the 1gb of DDR2? I felt bad I didn't have anything to match it Ordering them another 1gb stick for $17 off newegg in a few days, I also need to get a wireless router for them.

I gave it away for free. Her parents are cool and I give them stuff I usually fix that others gave me because it was old and broken.

The drive was a 30gb HHD from some random machine I salvaged years ago, I also tossed in a sata II 80gb 5200rpm 2.5in laptop HHD later because I wasn't sure if 30gb was enough and I need to start making room for the baby anyways

I've put together about 30 machines now and gave them away free from an assortment of broken machines that would have otherwise ended up in some dump.

This. In all seriousness. I want an i7 cause I want an i7! Would a AMD do what I need it to do? Quite possibly but I'm a performance purist and every little bit counts to me. Do I hate AMD? No. Would I use one? Yes. Doesn't make me an Intel fanboy.

my gut feeling is that the 8 core Bulldozer will firmly beat the 2500k, the 6 core Bulldozer FX will probably be on par with the 2500k but like 50-75 bucks cheaper.

The 8 core Bulldozer FX will trade licks with the 2600k with the 2600k coming out on top in the end, but Bulldozer FX 8 core will be about 100 bucks cheaper

AMD's 4 core Bulldozer offerings will compete with the i3 2100,etc.

So after the smoke clears, AMD owner's will get a nice upgrade with great motherboard compatibility and upgrade in droves. Intel users will say "meh" and stick with SB then upgrade to Ivy Bridge when its time, sort of like the Q6600 to Q9550 upgrade path. Continued daily fanboism from both sides will occur.

The end.

Your guess sounds reasonable, though the per core performance with BD sounds awful, and won't convince Intel users to get a AMD. Although $100 less with the benefit of 8 cores is good.
I just hope Enhanced Bulldozer can compete with IB.
