I have been a huge AMD fan for years and have been a share holder for years.

The fact of the matter is that AMD has fallen behind in the benchmarks. For gaming their line up has been great but for shear synthetic benches Intel is king.

AMD was very clear that they wanted to own the budget sector. High volume low cost.

Intel spends billions more to get a small amount more performance. AMD seems to be streamlined and have great Price/Perf ratios even in development.

Intel and AMD have very different business models, the fanboys seem to think they are identical companies with the same goals.

Don't forget we are the 1% that does these things with PCs most gamers that have decent systems are scared to overclock or mod anything. They think Alienware etc has the end all systems. Let alone Phase Change Water Cool etc.

Hmm, I don't think amd was planning on releasing an 6 core cpu with the launch of phenom 2. So there is a chance there will be a 10-12 core non server cpu but that would probably be when ivy bridge is released.

I just hope the 8 core bulldozer will be on par with the 2600K when they are both overclocked to the limit with not extreme cooling. Why do you guys care about stock vs stock anyway ? This is overclock.net, not stockclock.net

A client system, imo, shouldn't have to worry about WinRar compression, encoding videos, etc. Most home users are not going to be spending weeks compiling their home made video and probably won't even notice the difference between 15 minutes of encoding to 7 minutes of decoding. (can't remember which term to use...)

Office, school work, gaming, 3D editing, light video creation is what matters on the PC. Difficult compiling should be left on during the night.

Should AMD improve in the other sectors? It would be nice, but the importance of winrar compression is so insignificant, its rather funny how it is brought up as a pro for Intel for the user base. The real difference between Phenom II and the i7 is very small in terms of actual performance. Except for Ivy bridge, right now, I wouldn't suggest anything else for a CPU upgrade if there is no constraints.

I believe it because today there are still plenti of games that are not optimised for 6 cores and AMD wants them to work on 8 cores too.Unles intel shows an 8 core soon AMD is DOOMED!!

Pretty much all the NEW games try to use all cores availble, if they don't then go blame the developer not amd. The power is there if they decide not use it then that is their fault.
Also intel has 8 core cpu's (well with HT, but there are 8 threads). Any other wrong things to say ?

JF,
while I understand what your saying, you also have to see that our group (overclockers/ pc gamer enthusiest) is very small. Honestly, releasing benches early wouldnt have that huge of an impact on sales?? Most everyday buyers couldnt give a rip about that stuff, and dont know the diffrance between a phenom and bulldozer. So a few enthusiest hold off on buying a 1090t because the early benches show BD crushing all?? That also means that they might hold off on buying the competition because they know somthing much better is comming.. To me releasing early benches only helps show your confidence in a product. Also, its not like you would be releasing them a whole year in advance?? just a few months early is all were asking for. After all this is O/C .net, and for most people here its about top perfomance. Even if they (me lol) cant afford it
just my opinion.

Oh im sure Intel would notice, what are they going to do diffrently about it? Its not like they can come out with a whole new processor in a few months because of it? They have Ive bridge to counter BD, But they can only rush a new chip so fast. I would think a benchamark that is 3 months early wouldnt change intels plans much, or that would otherwise be the same if BD is/will be benched at release.

The "enthusiasts" and "early adopters" set the trend, if Bulldozer is really KickA** then it would have a trickle effect. Its happened before, it will happen again. Most people I work with don't know much about performance numbers, overclocking etc. They want a nice/fast PC experience. They ask me what they need to accomplish that. So far i've been recommending sandy bridge. Bulldozer can change that.

2) it´s so obvious, they are just another from buch of intel shi** advertisement websites.

True,i've seen that before. Many review sites are intel biased.
Ever browsed the AMD section on this forum and noticed a Intel ad? Just saying.... I have.
