Frequencies don't really mean much.

I'm only interested in the single thread performance which was stated to be "better than current Phenom II chips".

Honestly I'd be impressed if they manged to do worse than Phenom II in that respect. Who knows whats going to happen, they may have been comparing a bd core at 4ghz to a Phenom II at 3ghz.

i think it will be faster. but even if it's slower, if it's close in speed AMD will still have won in my book because they havent put all the hardware DRM, remote kill switch, serial numbered/trackable bull**** that intel has put in their newest chips.

big brother can stay the hell out of my CPU thank you very much.

Everything else you said is pure speculation.
AMD is well aware their Phenom II can hit 4Ghz,their BD chip, probably a bit more than 4Ghz because it is a 32nm chip. The Engineering sample with the spec table screenshot a few pages back shows the CPU's with up to a 3.2Ghz,clock,and a 3.7Ghz Turbo Core.

AMD had promised earlier with 50% better performance than Phenom II,this means AMD made some really beefy cores, and it should only take approximately 4.0Ghz to take out SB. (Just my own speculation)

The remote kill switch and what not is on their notebook CPUs.
Otherwise I agree, also only 2 of the desktop CPU's are actually overclockable.

I never said it wasn't. I said "that intel has put in their newest chips". Chips being the plural noun, newest being the adjective.

Can we please just wait until the processor comes out to start hating? If it's badass, hate on Intel. If it isn't, feel free to say AMD fails. Just stop talking about something we know (nearly) nothing about.
