[RP] AMD Bulldozer Benchmarks Leaked - Page 11

Just wanted to say that a module contains 2 REAL (integer) cores, not 1 core and 2 threads. It's NOT the same as Hyper-Threading.

Don't take my word for it. This is what AMD said.

I just wish the person that provided this performance slide would of clarified they meant module or cores.

However... I am seeing a trend here... people seem to have no problem comparing SB to Phenom II and stating (correctly I might add) that it wipes the floor with AMD, but then once any rumor shows up that BD MAY be faster than Sandy they are quick to say "oh, well BD is competing with IB anyway so this rumor has no meaning even if true..."

Which is it??

Tech should always be compared with what is available at the time. Period
Bulldozer will compete with Ivy Bridge for the majority of its life span, but only briefly with Sandy Bridge. Seems like a legitimate argument to me.

I wonder what the hell they're gonna do with all their remaining Phenoms/Athlons though, maybe have a fire sale (hexacores for £100ish, quads for £80ish and Athlons for £50 and less) oh well, one can hope.
I'm all for AMD making a comeback as the performance champ but thinking that AMD will retain its bang for the buck status if Bulldozer wallops SB/IB is a little naive. AMD is still a business, they are not your friends. Their current pricing is not because they are doing you a solid, its because they have no other choice in the matter if they want to make sales. If Bulldozer is miles ahead of SB/IB expect not only prices to reflect that but Intel taking the helm of bang for your buck manufacturer instead of AMD.

Remember when AMD was the performance champ they had $1k CPUs just like intel does now.

Even if they don't make Q4 '11, there's not that big of a time gap between a Q1 '12 launch and a Q3 '11 launch. It could conceivably be as little as 90 days.

If it does happen that way it'd be nice if Intel sent a review sample out around the same time by "mistake" so we could see how they compare. Too bad that's a pipe dream.

I have a feeling a 3 module Bulldozer will be equal if not better then 2500k and the 4 module will compete against the 6 core Sandy/Ivy bridge.

Again other prediction once Ivy Bridge and Bulldozer are released.

-4 core bulldozer will be around $150 ish and will be around 1156 i5 performance.
-6 core bulldozer/2500k will be around $190 ish with the better one costing a little more and the 2600k around $250
-8 core bulldozer/6 core Sandy Bridge will be around $330 ish and the 6 core Ivy bridge around $430 ish
-8 core Ivy bridge will be $999.

I really hope though those rumors about the 4 core Bulldozer performing around 2500k/2600k is true.
