Personally I'd stick to AM3 - because this as a comparable low-end platform with similar or adequate performance ends up much cheaper even then.
The "but it's so affordable" argument is just as weak.

When I built my i5 (back in Sept-Nov. last year) the overall system cost for an AMD build was identical to the Intel builds cost. The 1090t was comparable to the Bloomfields in price, yet the Bloomfields were superior. The 965 was comparable to the i5 in price, yet the i5 was superior.

Motherboards were exactly the same. Fully featured boards with USB 3 and SATA 6 were ~180 USD and up. Fully featured boards without these two amenities were ~130 and up. I paid just over 140 USD for my board, and have SLI support to boot.

Just where is this cost savings?

OP, why did you change the text from the source to say 3Ghz Bulldozer matcher 4ghz SB. The text says "3.5 GHz Bulldozer matches 4.0 GHz Sandy Bridge"

3.5 and 3 are not the same thing.

Changing the text from thr source = FAIL

Edit: They edited the article, OP could be fixed as well..
they edited the article, looks like OP only cared about spreading the rumor, but never coming back to check the thread.

in a previous post i had made a similar conclusion when i built mine, there was a total of $40 difference in the build i have now and a x4 965...
