i just finished my online registration for computer science and i am now looking for laptops/netbooks to do my classes on. can someone recommend a good product?

i am use to speed with my sig rig being what is it. so i am not looking for a turtle but i need something that is functional and will bring me a little bit into the future. any suggestions?

We need a budget. I'd recommend an HP EliteBook 8540p. If you are going to get a notebook, please get a business product. They have much better support and handle warranty support easier. This goes for dell as well.

there really isn't a budget i make good money but i am not looking for the best of the best just something that will be snappy and have good results with wifi and research

You don't need a specialized laptop to write and compile lines of code. I'm sure any modern machine would do the job. You might look at something with a 1080p resolution as I find it easier to write code when you can see more text on the screen. Other than that, go by the minimum requirements the school recommends and add more if desired.
