Where do I begin to OC?

Thread Starter
You can see my PC specs in the profile.

I am not looking to as much as unlock more than 4 cores, but I like to achieve 3.1ghz+ on this 2.8 processor.

I downloaded the AMD Overdrive utility but saw nothing to change except a performance slider. I saw some multipliers in the bios but dont know exactly what to change to OC the processor slightly.

I successfully OC a AMD Dual core not long ago from 2.5 to 2.8 (highest it would go) on an older MB. But I was stumped then as I am now how to do this without completely screwing everything up.

AMD overdrive has a utility to auto overclock for you, you can use this to get settings and apply them in the bios

u should invest in an aftermarket cooler before overclocking, the stock cooler is barely enough to support it at stock clocks

True, but it's his first post. Almost definitely just a thread in the wrong section.

Yep, definitely upgrade your cooler. But the thermal paste is also key. Something like AS5 or Indigo Extreme, all good pastes. Be sure to remove the paste that is already on the CPU with some paste remover.

also, from the looks of things, the MOFSETS don't have heatsinks, and the phase circuitry looks poor, harming your overclock.
