I can also pull numbers out of my rear. Why not assume that in order for ME2 to have made the cut, it would've needed to pull in 400% of the money they spent developing the game. Of course, estimates put the numbers at 300% profit, therefore the game was canned since they are "not a charity".
So the real moral of the story is, EA sucks. They killed ME2.
I got the sales figure from this thread. I also looked the sales figures up, they are almost 2 million (according to VG Chartz). My assumptions on piracy are very conservative, and yes I pulled them out of my rear end. But like I said, pretty conservative.
If EA can deploy finite resources to make more money elsewhere, they will do so. If ME had sold even 1 million more copies, then the resources wouldn't have been pulled. So if EA deploys capital to more profitable avenues, and ME could have been more profitable barring piracy, then it's pretty clear who killed ME 2.
