Crossfire HD 6870 & Eyefinity FPS Issues

Thread Starter
Hello everyone.

I recently bought a second HD 6870 and two extra monitors with my tax return so I can finally be playing all these awesome upcoming games on three screens with amazing frame rates.

Well everything came in and I setup everything accordingly with ATI's latest drivers.

With Crossfire enables and eyefinity in a 3x1 display, I get WORSE fps than one card running eyefinity.

one 6870 runs BFBC2 great at 5760x1080 on everything on High, but
Two 6870's runs BFBC2 at 5760x1080 HORRIBLY

I tested both cards individually and they both work great on each PCI Express Rail.

I did a benchmark on Unigine Heaven and the results are as follows:

1 card at 1080p: 25 Fps Average
1 card 5760x1080: 11 Fps Average
2 Cards Crossfire 1080p: 45 Fps Average
2 Cards Crossfire 5760x1080: 16-17 Fps Average

BUT BUT BUT

Although the benchmark says I have better performance with 2 Crossfire cards in both Eyefinity and Single Displays that is not the case with all my games.

Crysis, BFBC2, Dragon Age ALL give me worse performance on a Crossfire Eyefinity Setup than a Single Card Eyefinity setup.

The only advantage that I have right now is that Crossfire gives me a notable FPS increase on a single 1080p display, but not in a 5760x1080 Triple Screen Display.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I would hate to hear that my $700 purchase went to waste =(

Thanks Everyone

What are your full computer specs?

Also try giving this a read and tell me if this sounds like your issue.

I have signatures turned off at work. You can add your system info in the userCP and everyone will always be able to see it.

Looking at your system I dont see anything that stands out as to why you would have this issue. After reading a lot of articles it seems as though its somewhat common, yet no one has tracked down an answer other than "turn your settings down", which I know no one ever wants to do. Ill keep looking for a resolution for you, but its looking slim.

What drivers are you using? Latest as in 11.1?

Go here and fill out your specs http://www.overclock.net/specs.php

And also two questions I have to ask what drivers are you using?
And Do you have the Crossfire application profile downloaded?(Sounds like you don't) You should probably download the Full Suite and Corssfire application and make sure Crossfire enabled through GPU-Z as well.

Edit: Go here and download the Crossfire Application and also update your drivers if you wish to as well.

Make sure games are in fullscreen mode and not windowed mode. Crossfire does not work for windowed mode.

Also, if nothing works, reinstall drivers and application profiles.
And make sure the Crossfire bridge is well connected between the two cards, though I'm pretty sure the latter would not be a problem.

I assure you that the games are in Fullscreen mode, and as far as reinstalling the drivers and application profiles. I ended up downgrading to some of the previous drivers and back up to the latest driver, I am still having the issue.

=(
