[TXT] AT&T increasing data from 2GB to 4GB at no charge - Page 4

The current version is stuck using Verizons older network (cdma) which as I stated doesn't allow data and phone simultaneously. The speeds are also slow when compared to AT&T's network.

These only matter if you plan on switching before this summer (which you stated you do not). I only mention these so you don't waste your time getting a V-Iphone early. Once they push the 4G-LTE version out, it will certainly have some worth. As it stands now, anyone who switched companies because of the iphone was a few months too hasty.

I suppose it may be worth it for someone if they really really wanted to use the "hotsink" feature now and ignored the drawbacks.

I have AT&T and I like it fine. I have a few areas where I lose signal, but they are pretty much all around a mountain that I live next to, so it's understandable. Other than that, no complaints.

I just did some speed tests and was always over 1.3 Mbps, on 3G.

Anyway, I have an iPhone 4 with the 2GB non-tethering plan, and have not yet got the text. Hopefully I do. I don't think I've come near the 2GB cap yet as I am usually either at home or on campus where I either have access to a computer or I can just use the wifi network on my iPhone, but it would be nice to have the 4GB cap just in case I do need it.

I'm just outside of Atlanta, for the record.

I disagree. I may or may not be the exception, but I only average about 200MB of cellular data per month, so having 4G in my next phone is totally unnecessary for my particular use. I think the only time I ever use it is in the car. Otherwise I'm always connected via wifi.

Other points to consider are how 4G/LTE will drain batteries and if you're even covered. Isn't it estimated that most people won't be covered until late 2011 or 2012? So in that regard, what's the point of 4G if you can't even utilize it?

They probably used a number 95 percent of their customers fell under to make them happy and to flood verizon with their huge data users.

It's only for the tethering plan, the $25 for 2GB stays the same.

At least I get service where I was at.... My work verizon phone gets no service whatsoever, and gets worse service in my town all together. I work in the basement of a brick building. No one gets good service there. AT&T has the undoubted best service in my town.

Ya. That's going to be really hard. You remember the story about people going nuts and there's only 2 million iphones available and verizon's website crashing and blah blah blah blah. Um yaaaa.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUaFywhywjA[/ame]

AT&T in america and europe only signed up 15 million customers last year. Orange in europe is a much smaller operation with only 30 million customers total and most of them are t-mobile customers from merger. And apple is claiming 43 million iphone sales last year.
