I'm gonna get the game very soon. I'm wondering, if it would be worth to buy MvC2 still. I've only played MvC2 in arcades when I was younger, but never extensively like I wanted.

- The boss makes me want to punch myself in the face. I've only beat it twice, but the final boss is a pain. If you don't burn down the first phase fast enough, it will tear you a new one. The first time around, the AI wasn't too bad. But then the second time beating the game, when I started to switch characters mid combo, they started learning. The second phase is OK if you time your hyper jumps, and have at least 2 characters.
These two I agree with alot. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who hates the final boss. He's so freaking STUPID to beat. It's like Capcom did it on purpose because everyone hated Seth in SF4.

The AI is like Seth x 2 lololol

- Voice acting sort of annoyed me. I don't know why. I think it was because I was doing the missions, trying to land a combo, and all I heard was the same sound bit try after try after try after try. This isn't a big issue though.
I disagree. I love the voice acting. Especially when I hear all my favorite characters talk like they know each other. Hearing Chris call out to Dante or Zero calling out to Deadpool. It's just awesome Also when they say special things like when Dante goes against a female character he's like,"Why can't I ever meet nice women?" lol

I guess those are negatives. But there really are some positives.

- Visuals are amazing. It's like a rainbow made love to a unicorn, gave birth to a baby, and the placenta and afterbirth exploded all over the screen. I'm not a fan of the cell shading though. I would have loved some HD 2D character sprites. But that's just me and my age showing.

- Combo capabilities. One of my favorite things in the game is switching out mid air combo to another character. It opens up so many different possibilities when linking combos. I think I spent an hour just switching out characters in the air linking to a hyper combo. It feels amazing and looks BA. You can switch up twice and it uses no hyper gauge. There's also something called X-factor but I don't know how to use it properly. I guess it cancels special, to go into another special? Meh, dunno.

- Procrastinating capabilities. I didn't have any other reason not to do my homework because I had no other game to play. Now I do. Thanks MVC3.

All 3 of these I agree completely with. Except how do you do mid-air-combos. It's just escaped me and I've been trying to do it but nothing I press works! lol

Also I too have the PS3 version.

MvC 3 is new game which I have to keep reminding myself about. No matter how much I want it to be MvC 2. At first I was disappointed and wanted to return it, but the more I played it, the more I got used to its "Hybrid" combo system. Simple enough for casual players and surprisingly deep enough for 'core players.

3 things bother me tho.

- Simple Mode for Ranked games. (Blocked in BlazBlu, why not here?) I can tell people use Simple since the same moves are being spammed and nothing else.
- No Spectator Mode......really?
- No Online Tourney Mode (Hate to wait your turn in an 8 person lobby, wait 20 mins then get sent to the back of the line. Horrible.)
- Health is character based. Pheonix is the weakest for example. Not really an equal playing field.
- There are OP characters, don't care what anyone says.

I agree with you on simple mode, and the awful online experience, both of which I believe are actual technical problems with the game. And no spectator mode is just retarded, also why can't we save replays to our hard drives? ***!

However, characters aren't intended to be on an equal playing field.
Characters, like Phoenix for example, are refereed to as a glass cannon. Huge amounts of damage, little itty bitty health. But she has some pretty atrocious healing abilities and actually ends up being the most damaging character when you figure out the dark phoenix mode and X-factor. It's all in play style.

And yes there are OP'd characters. Capcom leaves them like this in these games as a sort of challenge for hardcore players and a safe haven for the casuals to play as.

Go here, www.shoryuken.com, it will shed quite a bit of light on a really deep system.
I massively heart this game...

Ehh....Makes sense. MvC 2 had it's healthing stuff with certain characters, but with MvC 3 some is just rediculous. To each their own.

Love that site.

Just finished playing a few hours over my friend's house and I'm glad that I did not spend $60 for this. It's not a bad game but it's definitely lacking in the game mode department. I can wait until it drop to $30. Until then, I'll keep enjoying playing MvC 1 & 2 when I have that craving. Hopefull the new MK will be worth $60

Glad i lost my interest in this game when i heard about the DLC, but after reading your personal reviews this looks like it's KOF 12 all over again (Charging $60 for pretty much a standard arcade game). I'll wait till the inevitable uber-sales for the Collector's Ed. on Take2.

Pheonix may have the lowest health if you have 5 super bars and she dies you get dark pheonix and is more powerful.

Personally I enjoyed MvC over the other two. I really dislike what they have done with the attack buttons.
