Should I Sell my 3 gtx580's and buy 2 gtx590's?

Thread Starter
HI everyone,
I haven't posted in a while but I have a bit of a dilemma and need some opinions.

I had 3x evga gtx480's ftw edition that I bought and was very happy with. However within the 90 day step up period the gtx580 was released so I decided to step up the cards. I stepped them up in november and it took until just yesterday for me to be able to send my cards in to get 3x gtx580's.

But now, everyone is talking about the gtx590 and I want to know whether or not it would be wise to sell the new cards I get in a few days and try to buy 2 gtx590's?

I build a new rig every 2-3 years depending on whats out at the time so I always buy the best so that it lasts but I want to make sure that if I sell my new cards and put maybe 100 dollars on top if it will be a wise thing to do?

Any comments/opinions would be much appreciated.

Having 3 cards in your case might be overdoing it imo (heat, noise etc). If you can get the 590's without paying too much, I'd say go for it.

what is the point? No current card can even come close to maxing the speed of a x16 2.0 slot. So why would I need more speed.

When it is proven true that the 590 is a 2x 580 but downclocked,
I would just keep the 580s and grab a 4th for quad if you want pure results.

I think if the 590 is priced reasonably like 600$ then people who want to upgrade will have SLI preformance and money that could be spent elseware.

I have the feeling 3 GTX 580s will be faster just like last generation.
