I don't want to disagree with anyone, and your info was right, before the 6900 cards came out.
If you want to go AMD, Snag a 6950. They are the best bang for the buck, and that's BEFORE unlocking their extra shaders on the PCB to increase performance.
The 69XX series cards, beat out every 5XXX series card except for the dual GPU 5970. And that cards a little cost-prohibitive.
Those are for performance per dollar, not just performance. What I said was that the 5850 is faster than the 6850, same with the 5870 and 6870, not that they were a better value. If you already knew that and still think that they 6xxx series is faster then look below.

If you like you can find some benchmarks on here I am sure showing that the 58xx are faster than the 68xx. I just found the one thread in the quick search, but I would not be surprised to see more.

I know the card names, thank you very much. 6000 series are the newer, slower, cards.
I will not argue that the 6xxx series are the best value cards you can buy right now, but that is not what i was saying in my earlier post.
