Which card for BF3 - Page 2

I'm fairly positive a 6870 will run it.

6870 handles all games out well at the very least at high settings.

He only plays at 1680 x 1050 resolution. So it shouldn't be that demanding.

We decided on a 460GTX now, and if needed another one later.

Sounds like a good choice you made there. No need to overdo things when you know what you need at the res you play. I highly doubt that BF3 won't run nicely on that card at that res. It should at the very least play it well at medium settings imo at release at that res.

Ya thats what I was thinking.

I'm starting to think people are forgetting what is 'actually' needed to play most games. I know this is a enthusiast site, but come on. Lol

Thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated

Just tell him to go with the best single card he can afford, he can always SLI or CFX it later to get great results.

Seriously though, probably a 570 would be enough to ensure good gameplay. If he's really aiming to for BF3 maybe he should just pick up a cheap 460 and just rock it till BF3 comes out then pick up a card then.
Are they releasing the 7xx series next? Isn't kepler up next for the market, and isn't that the 6xx series?

No one knows, it will be more demanding than BC 2 for sure but considering that game runs at a solid framerate even on a GTX 460 I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Best thing is to wait for Kepler which is supposed to come out around the same time.
