Crucial c300

Thread Starter
Is it worth me buying the 6Gb/s Crucial c300 SSD?
I already have an Intel 80GB SSD to load my OS but SATA3 sounds sexy

I have owned both and from daily use I notice no appreciable improvement moving to SATA 3 please insert the law of diminishing returns here .

Well now, that was quick.

I've had both an Intel 80GB G2 and a Crucial 256GB C300 and the Crucial is a far better drive even on a SATA3G/bs port.

IDK about the smaller Crucial's but there's no contest with the drives I've had.

I wouldn't tempt the idea of the c300 series as the c400 is gonna be released shortly.

If you can afford the price of admission I'd wait for the C400s.

I see the 256GB C300s on Ebay for @ $400.00 and after the C400s arrive I'm hoping for @ $300 to 350.00.

That may have had a fair bit to do with it. The Crucial would have whipped the floor with the intel given that size discrepancy; at more equal sizes it may not have been as obvious.

I too wouldn't concern myself with upgrading to a C300, given how close the new Barefoot drives are and the coming C400.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

I can only relate what I've personally tried but the write speed of the 256GB unit is 215MB/sec while the 128GB is 140MB/sec which would definately have some influence.

But because "SATA3 sounds sexy" it might be worth it's weight in gold!
