Blue Screen Flashes then restarts.

Hey guys I'm looking at the craigslist ad. and some guy is selling a laptop for cheap. The only problem that laptop has a blue screen of death which flashes very fast and comp. restarts.. What can it be? Can it be fixed by reinstalling windows?

depends. it would be a gamble to get it, could be hardware problems, could be a virus. only way to really tell is to get it to boot with halt on bsod and figure out what the error code is. personally i would take the gamble

If the minidumps were saved you can find out what they were with BlueScreenView and troubleshoot from there. If he disables automatic restarts on crashes he could read the BSOD instead of it just flashing and rebooting.

25-30% would be my guess, very rarely something would blue screen as a result of hardware failure on laptops, chances are its user error.

Just from statistics I have of selling laptops.
