Compatibility issue with mobo and cpu

Thread Starter
Sorry, but I need some help. I bought an ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard and an AMD X6 cpu.... I overlooked the fact that they aren't compatible unless you update the BIOS. My question is how to fix this, and also I want to know if it will even boot before I fix it.

You could probably contact Asus tech support for an answer. Either that or you drop the X6 in and see if it boots. Or you need a spare CPU.

I bought it from newegg, and just looking at the reviews.... several people are using it with X6 CPUs, but they have flashed the BIOS. Any tips on the best way to update the BIOS for this case?

You can boot with the x6 CPU, but have to flash the BIOS right away for proper support. People on OCN have been able to do and confirm this before.
